  • Guidance from the Past -- Drawing upon his best-selling books on Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, Aspen Institute President Walter Isaacson will offer his thoughts on how some of our nation's most original thinkers might view the challenges facing higher education today.
  • The Quickening Pulse of the Public -- As we hurtle toward the presidential election, Peter Hart, one of the top public opinion analysts in America, will look at the forces shaping the race to the White House, and the mood of the electorate as we approach one of the most important election years in recent history.
  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology President Susan Hockfield will join us to share her views on the issues facing American higher education.
  • The Legal Landscape -- A panel of knowledgeable campus and Washington legal insiders will provide an overview of the legal terrain that colleges and universities must navigate in a time of increased accountability and transparency.
  • Beyond Sarbanes-Oxley -- The legislative earthquake that shook the corporate world a few years ago continues to cause tremors in the nonprofit world.  A panel of experts will examine the still-changing landscape of conflict of interest, and what colleges must do to remain secure.
  • Are We There Yet?  -- The long and convoluted trip to a new Higher Education Act may approaching the end of the road.  Reauthorization insiders will take a look at the final destination, and the potholes that remain.
  • Voices from the Hill -- We're in the process of firming up our usual array of members of Congress and noted political figures, who will share their views on what lies ahead as the second session of the 110th Congress convenes.
  • "Academies" on Government Relations and Public Relations -- We'll again offer these two popular half days of sessions for both presidents and their key government relations/public relations staff.  Don't-miss sessions of the Public Relations Academy on Feb. 3 will feature Scott Jaschik, editor of Inside Higher Ed and one of the most astute observers of higher education policymaking, with a journalist's view of the major issues facing higher education, and integrated marketing guru Larry Lauer on the changing face of higher education marketing.
  • . . . plus plenty of networking -- As in past years, you'll also have ample opportunity to visit with your colleagues at a full slate of social activities.  And of course, we'll once again give you an opportunity to make those all-important Hill visits with your congressional delegation.
