Our Lady of the Lake College has evolved from the foundation of excellence provided by the Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing, established in 1923 by the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady. This school began in conjunction with the establishment of Our Lady of the Lake Sanitarium in downtown Baton Rouge. The School was an integral part of the new hospital's program of service to the community.
The College received approval from the State Board of Nursing to offer associate degree programs in nursing in 1990; regional accreditation initially in June of 1994; approval to offer baccalaureate degrees in 1998 and in 2005 approval was granted to offer master's degrees in nurse anesthesia, nursing and physician associate studies.
The College seeks to be faithful to the ideals of its heritage, continues to offer a solid foundation in learning, a tradition of success in helping others and a legacy of service to God's people.
