Colleges Urged to Review for Accuracy their Program-Level Data Reported to the Department of Education

June 25, 2019

In accordance with the recent addition of program-level debt data to the College Scorecard, colleges and universities are reminded to confirm the accuracy of program-level data reported to the National Student Loan Data System for Students (NSLDS) by July 10, 2019. Institutions are encouraged to review a presentation that accompanied a webinar hosted by the Department of Education (How to Correct Historical Enrollment Reporting in NSLDS), as well as NSLDS Newsletter 64, for additional information on updating and amending student records.

Following the July 10th deadline, the Department will begin recalculating student debt by field of study. At the same time, it will also begin calculating earnings by field of study for the first time.  The earnings information will be made public on the Scorecard no later than January 2020, in line with the President’s recent executive order.

The Department released its preliminary data on program-level debt in May 2019.
