First Year Learning Community (FYLC)
Houghton College's First Year Learning Community (FYLC) is for incoming freshmen who opt to live in a designated residential setting. A percentage of the coursework is taken with students with whom they live, and related co-curricular activities are offered four to six times per semester. This program is designed to be an easy transition into college and to promote stronger student-teacher relationships, as well as friendships, due to the amount of interaction. The goal is to have 95% retention and 90% completion.
