[Institution Name] Part of Enhanced Consumer Information Web Site

U-CAN, a voluntary consumer information initiative that includes [Institution Name] and is coordinated by National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), has unveiled its first major site upgrade.

U-CAN "2.0" — with improvements that came from user feedback and focus groups with parents and students —  features a new advanced search feature that increases the number of searchable categories from three to 17, making U-CAN among the most searchable Web sites of its kind.

The improved site also provides guidance on how to prepare academically and financially for college, find the right fit, and navigate the financial aid maze. In the coming months, NAICU will be exploring the development of a new element that would allow consumers to see how colleges are spending their tuition dollars.

Since NAICU unveiled U-CAN in September 2007, with 600 private colleges and universities on board, the number of participating institutions has grown by 21 percent, to more than 725 institutions.

With a design driven by consumer needs, the U-CAN site has been lauded for its rich and consumer-relevant information, and colorful, user-friendly format — by students, parents, college admissions counselors, and policymakers. Since U-CAN went live, more than 400,000 users have visited the site, viewing nearly 1 million pages.
