Give Private College Students Connecticut Transit Pass

September 19, 2017

John J. Petillo, president of Sacred Heart University (CT), writes:  An easy, inexpensive alternative for getting anywhere in our state was recently announced by the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the University of Connecticut and the Connecticut State Colleges and University System. Called the U-Pass CT program, it offers access to the Connecticut transit system statewide through a $20 per semester public bus and train pass for students who attend those institutions. It is a smart, creative initiative that would be worth applauding, except for one glaring oversight: It is not available to students attending Connecticut's private colleges and universities.
