A Cautionary Tale for Small Colleges

Patricia McGuire, President, Trinity Washington University writes: The death of any college is a tragedy for the students, alumnae, faculty, staff, and neighbors who cherish the place as far more than the campus and buildings. A college is a small society of relationships and lifelong friendships, a place of intellectual and cultural enrichment, a worthy investment for generous benefactors as well as a provider of extensive community services. The tragedy of New Rochelle becomes more painful in the realization that one man’s actions ruined the legacy of generations.
