Dr. Forrest E. Harris, Sr., president of American Baptist College (TN), writes:  In 1999, the opportunity of a lifetime occurred. Following the mentorship of the icon of the Civil Rights Movement and nonviolent protests, Dr. Bernard Lafayette, the surprising prospect of becoming president of American Baptist College meant following in his footsteps. For 20 years, I’ve served this institution with honor and an unwavering commitment to its social justice legacy. There were challenges, deficits, and days when we did not know how we would make it. For all those days, we are thankful.
