NAICU Responds to Wall Street Journal Essay on Student Debt

June 25, 2019

NAICU President David Warren submitted a letter-to-the-editor pushing back on a Wall Street Journal opinion essay on the student loan system and student debt (“The Long Road to the Student Debt Crisis” by Josh Mitchell, published June 7, 2019).
In his letter, published by the outlet on June 17, Warren argues that the overwhelming majority of college borrowers have manageable student-loan debt and the value of a college degree remains strong. In fact, citing the conclusion of a recent essay from the New York Federal Reserve, he wrote: “For most people, the benefits still outweigh the costs, and a college degree is most definitely worth it—and worth the investment.”
Warren’s complete letter can be found on the NAICU website as well as the WSJ website.
