For months, colleges have struggled to navigate competing demands related to the Israel-Hamas war. Some people, such as prominent donors, want full-throated support for Israel. Some, including many student activists, demand divestment from Israel. Others don’t think colleges should ever comment on political events. A new report offers a retrospective on how some colleges responded after October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel and killed some 1,200 Israelis.
