Percentage of Adults With College Degree Hits New High, Finds Lumina

A new update from the Lumina Foundation finds that the percentage of working age adults who’ve earned a college degree or other postsecondary credential reached 54.9% in 2023, the most recent year for which relatively complete data are available. That’s the highest national level of postsecondary attainment since Lumina, an independent, private foundation in Indianapolis, began tracking these data more than 15 years ago.
