Champagne Steps Down as Elmira College President

Ronald Champagne will step down as Elmira College president and be replaced by an interim chief as a national search is conducted for a permanent president, the college announced Wednesday.  Champagne came to the college July 1, 2012, and oversaw several initiatives to modernize the campus and expand its offerings.  Trustees have named Norman Smith to serve as interim president. Smith has served as president of Wagner College, Richmond – The American International University in London, Dowling College and Suffolk University. He was also founding chancellor of Alamein University in Egypt.
