Albright's New President Arrives at Challenging Time

Columnist Louis M. Shucker writes: As the Jacquelyn S. Fetrow era begins and the Lex O. McMillan III era ends at Albright College (PA), both public and private colleges face unprecedented challenges to remain relevant and to survive financially. Can liberal arts colleges continue to offer small class sizes, an experienced and vibrant faculty and majors in subjects that appear to be in declining demand? Most important, can these schools continue to build strong, cohesive learning communities in which students can thrive?Let's face it, today's students have many choices and, given the economic climate, are increasingly aware of the sticker price of a college education.
