Guilford College Starts New Year With Balanced Books, Big First-Year Class

At the start of her third year at Guilford College, President Jane Fernandes is feeling pretty good about where things stand. Though overall enrollment continues to fall, the number of traditional-aged college students rose for the first time since 2008 thanks to a large freshman class. Guilford’s finances are back in the black after two years of deficits, and the college is adding new degree programs.
