As Number of High School Grads Levels Off, Area Private Colleges Get Creative to Lure Students

Tuition will rise this fall at many Nebraska and Iowa private colleges, but some schools have devised unusual ways to compete for students.  The College of St. Mary, for instance, has dropped its sticker price by $10,000 — a 33 percent decline — while Drake University will raise tuition for incoming freshmen by 11 percent but will lock the price in for those students for the next few years.
