Simmons University Names First African American President

Simmons University (MA) has selected a new president and its first African American leader. The private university’s board unanimously approved Lynn Perry Wooten as the school’s ninth president. Her term will begin July 1.  Wooten most recently served as the David J. Nolan Dean at Cornell University’s Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. She will succeed Helen Drinan, who is leaving the job in June after 12 years.
