Bates College Orders Students to Shelter in Place After Sudden Case Spike

Bates College on Thursday ordered students to shelter in place until at least Tuesday after a sudden increase in positive Covid-19 tests on the Maine campus, the Sun Journal reports. As of Thursday, there were at least 34 active cases in the college’s isolation housing and 50 more students — who may have been exposed to the coronavirus — in quarantine, the newspaper reports. Just a week before, only one student was in isolation housing.
