Dartmouth Basketball Players Vote to Unionize in New Challenge to NCAA’s Amateurism Model

The Dartmouth men’s basketball team voted in favor of forming a union on Tuesday, in a seismic move for college sports and its century-old insistence that athletes are playing, not working when they compete for their schools. The National Labor Relations Board announced that 13 of the team’s 15 players had voted in favor of joining the Service International Employees Union, and two had cast ballots against it.
