FY 2019 Draft Cohort Default Rates Released

March 11, 2022

The draft cohort default rates (CDRs) for FY 2019 were recently distributed to those institutions of higher education enrolled in the Electronic Cohort Default Rate (eCDR) notification process through the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG).

Institutions can appeal their CDRs with the Department of Education.  All Incorrect Data Challenges must be made through the eCDR Appeals application.  Additionally, any Participation Rate Index Challenges will continue to be submitted via hard copy through secured email. If the Department revises an institution’s CDR based on its adjustment or appeal submission, the revised CDR will be available on the Default Management website.

Institutions not enrolled in the eCDR and those that did not have a borrower in repayment during the current or any of the past cohort default rate periods, will not receive a FY 2019 draft cohort default rate notification package. These institutions are considered to have no cohort default rate data and no cohort default rate.

For specific information regarding eCDR Appeals, user guides for each of the challenge and adjustment processes are available on the eCDR Appeals website.  The site also contains a user guide for the registration process and links to recordings of eCDR Appeals demonstration sessions to assist first-time users.
