New FIPSE Grants Available
The Department of Education announced new priorities for grant-making under the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) and published in the Federal Register the notice for the new competition. Awards for new grants will be made by December 31, 2025.
FIPSE priorities change over time in response to the administration’s determination of national needs. The new areas of focus for FIPSE resources will be:
- $50 million for grants in Artificial Intelligence to improve student outcomes and expand computer science exposure to educators and students.
- $60 million for grants for Promoting Civil Discourse on College and University Campuses, which will support initiatives to foster respectful deliberation and debate on college and university campuses through activities such as seminars, speaker series, conferences, debates, and other learning opportunities that include a range of viewpoints and encourage dialogue.
- $7 million in grants for Accreditation Reform to address barriers to switching institutional accreditors and creating new accrediting agencies.
- $50 million for high quality Short-Term Programs that meet the eligibility requirements for the Workforce Pell Grant program. These grants will support the development of new programs and the expansion of existing programs.
