Comment Period Opens for IPEDS ACTS Survey

The Department of Education opened the comment period for interested parties to weigh in on the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) Admissions and Consumer Transparency Supplement (ACTS) survey component.

Colleges and universities that are not four-year institutions, and any institution that admits 100% of its applicants and does not award non-need-based aid are exempt from having to report this data during that academic year. Interested parties must submit comments by December 15. NAICU will be drafting comments in response to the proposal in advance of the submission deadline.

In a comment letter to the Department sent last month, NAICU expressed its concern that the data collection was proceeding without thorough review or assessment and requested that it be deferred until critical privacy, timing, and formatting issues have been resolved.

The ACTS survey component is a response to a White House memorandum to expand data collection on college admissions.
