Over $5 Billion in Foreign Gifts Reported for 2025

According to the Department of Education, American colleges and universities reported over 8,300 transactions worth more than $5.2 billion in foreign gifts and contracts in 2025.

As mandated by the Higher Education Act, all institutions of higher education that receive federal funding are required to disclose foreign gifts of $250,000 or more per year and make the disclosure publicly available.

In conjunction with this week’s data release, the portal was enhanced with upgraded data visualization functionality to improve usability and public access. Institutions should check the portal to ensure the accuracy of the data reported in the portal.
