FY 2027 Funding Process Set. The House Appropriations Committee launched the funding request process for FY 2027 and set a deadline of March 20 for Representatives to submit requests. Representatives are allowed to make up to 20 requests for community project funding. While the House does not allow earmarks in the Department of Education account, requests are accepted for programmatic funding levels and legislative language. Please work directly with your Member of Congress if you are interested in pursuing directed spending. The Senate process, which allows projects in Education, should be available soon.
ED Announces Interagency Agreement with State Dept. The Department of Education (ED) announced a new interagency agreement with the Department of State (State) to create a partnership to promote transparency regarding foreign influence in higher education. According to the fact sheet, ED will manage the updated foreign gift reporting system required under Section 117 of the Higher Education Act and State will leverage its expertise to assess compliance and identify potential national security threats.
