ED to Award $70 Million in Teacher Quality Partnerships
The Department of Education launched the competition for FY 2026 funding for the Teacher Quality Partnerships (TQP) program through its interagency agreement with the Department of Labor.
The Department anticipates awarding $70 million to “eligible partnerships” that pair a high-need local educational agency (LEA), a high-need school served by the LEA, or a high-need early childhood education (ECE) program with a partner institution that includes a school, department, or program of education within such partner institution, and a school or department of arts and sciences within such partner institution.
The Department expects to make between 7 and 10 awards ranging from $500,000 to $2 million. Applicants must apply for TQP awards only under one absolute priority, which include:
- Partnership Grants for the Preparation of Teachers
- Partnership Grants for the Establishment of Effective Teaching Residency Programs
- Partnership Grants for the Development of Leadership Programs in Conjunction with the Preparation of a Pre-Baccalaureate Model for Teachers
- Partnership Grants for the Development of Leadership Programs in Conjunction with the Establishment of an Effective Teaching Residency Programs
- Returning Education to the States
Applicants can gain competitive points by addressing competitive preference priorities, which include:
- Career Pathways and Workforce Readiness
- Promoting Evidence-Based Literacy
- Meaningful Learning Opportunities for Students
Interested parties should submit applications via the www.grants.gov website site by June 23, 2026. The intergovernmental review will be completed by August 24, 2026.
