Reporting Deadline for 2024-25 Accountability Data Extended

The Department of Education extended the deadline for reporting delinquent 2024 and 2025 data under the Financial Value Transparency (FVT) and Gainful Employment (GE) regulations to January 15, 2027. The due date for the 2026 reporting cycle remains October 1, 2026.

The Department's electronic announcement originally indicated that roughly 1,900 institutions had either under-reported or not reported any of the required data, but the most recently updated file shows roughly 1,800 institutions with some degree of missing data files.

Per the Department's notice, for the 2024 and 2025 reporting cycles, institutions must provide, at a minimum, the following data:

2024 Reporting Cycle

  • Program File for the 2023-24 award year

  • Student File

    • Annual Amount records for the 2023-24 award year

    • Total Amount records for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 award years

2025 Reporting Cycle

  • Program File for the 2024-25 award year

  • Student File

    • Annual Amount records for the 2024-25 award year

    • Total Amount records for the 2024-25 award year

The guidance also waives the requirement that institutions that fail to meet the reporting deadline submit a statement to the Secretary explaining their non-compliance. Once the data are submitted, no further notification is required from institutions.
