The panel working on negotiations over the Trump administration’s rewrite of Obama-era student loan protections didn’t get much done on its first day of work on Monday. Before the panel even began addressing the substance of the rules, members of the rulemaking committee sparred for hours over whether to adopt procedures that permit members of public to livestream or videotape the negotiating sessions.
