FCC Releases Plan to Reverse Net Neutrality Rules
December 05, 2017
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) formally released its
plan to roll back Obama-era net neutrality
rules requiring Internet providers to treat all web traffic equally. Such a change is likely to negatively affect institutions of higher education, which rely on a free and open Internet to fulfill their educational and research missions.
Previously, NAICU joined an EDUCAUSE-led effort to oppose any changes to net neutrality laws.
The new rules are expected to be adopted at the FCC’s next meeting in December.
